[ARC5] Simple Question Arc-5 receiver power supply requirements?

Hello Bruce,
You write "... I can tweek the power supply [...] ratings and shave the
parts cost a little ..."
I never do this.
The cost of parts are such a small component of the final cost (and the
value of a set is so high) I wonder why anyone would not design for the
best quality, and widest operating safety margin possible? That was
the basis for the original design. No component in the ARC-5 is
"cheap". This applies everywhere, even to the drawings in the ARC-5
technical manual. Consider how much the US Navy might have saved by not
publishing, for example, the drawing showing the IF transformer
construction (etc)
