The Navy contracted to the Aircraft Radio Corp. (ARC) for a VHF radio
set during WWII. The R-112 was the low VHF band and the R-113 was the
high band. As I understand from my contact with the old ARC company,
these sets eventually became the Type 12 system that ARC sold to both
the military and civil aviation. If you have these older sets, they
must be very rare. There were matching transmitters for the above,
too. I can only assume that the ARC T-11( ) and T-13( ) were the result
of these early rigs. Note however that the T-11( ) and T-13( ) were
crystal controlled, unlike the early transmitters. I have all the Type
12 books but nothing on these early sets.... Don't confuse A.R.C. with
the AN-designation AN/ARC-5, although ARC Corp. did manufacture a lot of it.
