Almost any TM 11-xxx or -4xxx appearing late in WWII will have instructions
for applying MFP that are very specifically detailed for the specific
equipment.  I cited details from the TM for the BC-1335 (April 1945), but
on the web at BAMA is an equally good example, TM 11-235 (May 1945) for the
SCR-536-* (BC-611-*):

Check out original manual pages 26 through 30.  The instructions conclude
with "(5) Test for correct presetting and alignment."
