My late Dad was an air traffic controller and heard a couple of these Hudson-like events "live" in his 30 years in the tower. He said there was never any melodrama, sometimes little or no radio comms at all: they were too busy saving their skins.

An old pal of his who flew for Western Airlines and Delta always said "Of course we're not cowboys! We'll be the first ones at the scene of the accident........."
