I think the whole TA-12/RA-10/MP-28 system has never had much
regard given to it. The TA-12B provided a lot of overlap in
coverage of its three HF channels, while the RA-10 with loop
adapter allowed both aural DF work and communications. All that
was needed was:

MN-20E RA-10DB Receiver DF Loop
MN-52B Control Box for MN-20E DF Loop
MP-28BA Modulator with Dynamotor and Mount
MR-9B Control Box for RA-10DB Receiver
MT-31C Tuning Meter for TA-12B Transmitter
MT-51C Control Box for TA-12B Transmitter
MT-53B MF Tank Coil for TA-12B Transmitter
RA-10DB Receiver with Dynamotor, Mount, and
MR-11D Loop Relay Unit
TA-12B Transmitter and Mount

Plus maybe a MS-14B generic junction box and some MS-18B mic jack
boxes.

Plus, an LM or SCR-211 frequency meter would be essential. There
is no real calibration data provided for the TA-12 and RA-10.

This relatively small amount of equipment provides:

RA-10DB Receiver
Band 1 150 to 400 KC
Band 2 400 to 1100 KC
Band 3 2000 to 5000 KC
Band 3 5000 to 10000 KC

TA-12B	Transmitter
Channel 1: 300 to 600 KC
Channel 2: 3000 to 4800 KC
Channel 3: 4000 to 6400 KC
Channel 4: 4370 to 7000 KC

It seems like a pretty capable system that adequately covered all the
spectrum that really was valuable for aviation use, pre-WWII.

It's become fairly difficult to find all these pieces, and RA-10s have
never seemed to be all that common.
