The FIRST version. Boeing's model 299, had 5 ea .30 caliber machineguns.

B-17C had 4 ea .50s and 1 ea .30.. in the nose.

B-17E was the first model which was really combat ready.

B-17G had 10 ea .50s. 8800 were built.
