I am the Brian Mendes referred to in Richard Hankins recent post. I am
hoping that a member of this group might live within driving distance of
the RCA Museum in Shilo, Manitoba, Canada and could make a visit to check
out the AA radar artifacts that are parked in the storage yard of the
museum. I have not been there myself but do possess a large number of
photos taken in 2006 by a non technical visitor. We have been able to
identify three AA radars..

GL III (c) one being the APF unit (aka AA radar No 3 Mk 1)the other the
ZPI unit ( aka AA radar No 4 Mk 1 )

A post war AA radar with designation AN-MPS 501B

A USA produced AA fire control system M-33, based upon the unitdesigned
for the original Nike Hercules FCS.This Fire Control system has three
trailers identified as M 242, M 243, M 244

All these units are parked outdoors and apart from a coat exterior fresh
paint applied to the two GL III (c) cabins,no interior preservation
measures have been implemented

I have created two albums Early radar 1 Exteriors and Early Radar 2
Interiors. No attempt has been made to identify which correspond to the
any particular cabin. I wish to create an image of just what is located on
the site and perhaps create an interest.

Kind Regards Brian Mendes
