They are indeed.  Shouldn't be a problem cleaning them.

Sounds like a good idea.  Implanting a pin could be tricky.
If you decide to get ambitious, you could remove the pin
from the bottom and affix a replacement taken from a junk chassis.
Carefully drill the press-fit that holds the contact leaf,
reinstall the pin and re-solder the leaf.
