Yes. I use an old vice-grip to grip the knob (lightly) and let its weight hold 
the spring-loaded switch on.

Isn't it a three-position switch which IS spring-loaded in one direction (up?) 
and NOT spring-loaded in the other (down?), with center being OFF? I don't 
yet have an IT-28 so don't know for sure.

Yes. It is an excellent instrument.

Every one I have wanted went for about double that, but maybe I hit it at the 
wrong time...
