Dave, If you have or can get either a TS-1/ARR-1 or a TS-24A/ARR-2, there's you ready-built signal source. I'd go with a Yagi rather than the cylindrical slot. More cumbersome but at least a beam. Mike, W6MAB

Subject: [ARC5] YG/ZB Demo
I've been "noodling" about how to demo this system
in it's original state. I have all the bits and pieces and
a "build board" all ready for it, so I can connect it to
my other various sets. But how to demo it?
OK all you "smarter than me" people-
I've another hair-brained idea.
Suppose I build a YG signal source.
Very low power. I mean microwatts.
Build a rotating cylindrical shield with resonant slot
for radiation. 1/4 wave slot would be about a foot long.
Drive the can rotation along with an 8-segment switch
to change code char. for each segment. Radiating stub
in the can. See diagram:

The ZB should only hear the demo signal when its
antenna is in view of the slot. Move the demo transmitter around
and you get a different code.
What a cool show it would make at a hamfest presentation.
But will it work?
