At the very first monthly TRW swap meet I attended in the early 1980's they were auctioning off a load of stuff that had been donated to the radio club.  One of these was a BC-603 receiver.  "How much am I bid for this?" brought eye rolls and groans from the group.

Everyone was stunned when a guy spoke up from the back of the crowd "I'll take it!.  Here's $5.00"  We all turned to see what sort of lunatic would buy the thing.  "I'm trying to buy all that I can." He explained, "I collect tanks."

He collects not just tank radios but .... Tanks. 

Every time I get to wondering about the wisdom of my boatanchor hobby I remember that there are people like him, who are even crazier than I am. 

15 miles from where I sit is a multi-millionaire that collects tanks, too.  Perhaps this affliction is more widespread than I had thought.
