[ARC5] What's on your "A" List?

Was talking to Hue and had an idea: Let's compare
our "prime" projects- the ones I call our "A" list.
These are the sets you're serious about "getting done."

"Done" means different things to different people.
My definition of "done" is that the set is as complete
and operational as it would have been installed in its
intended position (save the microphone element)
as our long and loving efforts can make it and is
mounted in a fashion as to make it useable
(not just scattered pieces on a shelf).
Having every single secondary pieces-part
isn't necessary but is a big plus and one of my goals.
I don't mean that every piece be exactly the same
order number or contract number (although that's
another goal), because that would not only
be an unrealistic standard, it would not reflect
a "real world" installation, which likely
had componants from several contracts.
There can always be improvement like swapping-in
a better example of a dynamotor or control box,
or finding a way to incorporate some of those
"secondary" parts. Again- the standard for me is
a realistic, working installation; YMMV.

OK- All that said, here's my "A" list,
subject to sudden, senseless change
by childish whim at any time:

-----------------------------------
Done or Nearly Done:
SCR-183

SCR-274N

SCR-287 (need J-37)

ARB/ATB (need TX shock mounts, TX and Dyno canvas)

AN/ARC-8 (Gone to a bomber restore in Europe.
                      Probably won't build another.)

ARC-type-12

SCR-288 (need the little battery cover and bags)

DU-1 (need shock mount)

Future projects:
SCR-77 (because it's marked for
                 my father's Army unit).

RAT  (Need to find a control box and build a mount;
probably settle for rebranded A.R.C.-make 2x ARA box)

GF-10 / RU-15 (love them green nomen tags ;-)

ZB (build a mount and wire-up cables)

TCS-12 (Need to clean-up and rebuild rack and cables)

GP-7 or ATD w/ RAX (still noodling this one-
yes; I know the GP should have RU,
but I'll bet you coffee and cookies
it got installed with RAX more than once.
Besides- I already have RU in one set
                 and I'm loath to give-up RAX. )

1x1 ARA / ATA (because I have the rare
single mounts. Need the ARC-make modulator.)

1x1 ARC-5 MF (160 mtrs with T-17 and TN-6)

SCR-274N VHF (Rarer and cooler than SCR-522 ;-)

British TR9-D (Need the big knob assembly for inductor adjust)

Australian AR8 / AT5

Various WASP "Ferrying" sets.

LM (have Navy AC supply)

SCR-211 (have Sig Corps issued AC supply)

Navy REP set.

Refurbish my Drake 7-line.

Couple of Zeniths.

Haven't decided for sure:

British R1155- Probably "no" because
I'm unlikely to ever get the correct transmitter
to go with it or any other accesssories.

Russian US-P same reasons as with R1155

Big" Navy receivers like RAK/RAL
and/or RBH/RBO/RBL.
Have them plus many accessories,
but short on room so probably "no."
Oh, won't turning these loose hurt!

SCR-543- because I have several rigs,
the AC supply, all the cables and all the accessory/
crystal/spare boxes full. Probably "yes,"
but if someone with a pick-up truck and
a nice trade came along.....

Still "hemming and hawing" over AN/ARC-2
and -2A. Have the mount. One would go
on my "keep" list if I found a control box.
Both worked last time I powered them
in 1997 (see what happens when you don't focus?
If I care so much about them, why leave them sit so long?).
Probably trade off at least one of them.

----------------------------------

This is surely enough to take-up all the radio time (and room)
I have left to me. I hate to turn-loose of so many others
I'd really love to tinker
(TBY, SCR-536, SCR-194 and -195,
 SCR-522, ARC-1 etc. etc.)
but Father Time has no patience for my whims.

So- what'da'ya'say? Thought about what's on
your "A" list? Never know how many of us
might be working on those same sets.
