Given that these radios work fine on lower B+ I would be tempted to go SS
and not even bother with creating a separate supply voltage. That would
simply things, keep the heat down and your radio will be happier on the
lower B+ anyway. You can easily find NPN transistors of 40, 60, 100V or
more.
