[ARC5] ARA-8 VHF Homing

I found out how the ARA-8 was operated, if not how it worked.

Based on the info in the P-47N Pilot Training Manual:

1.  It also worked with the SCR-522.
2.  When turned on the ARA-8 gave the pilot a "U" in morse code ..-, if the transmitter being received was on the right was and a "D" in morse code -.. if it the transmitter being received was on the left.
3.  When headed directly at the transmitter being received it gave a steady hum.  So it worked much the same way as an AN-range.
4.  The ARA-8 could also be used for transmitting a signal for other aircraft to home on.
5.  The ARA-8 had a switch to select MCW or CW. 

This sounds like a good system!
