I would suggest that, outside a DU or DW, there was none. I
believe that very likely there was never a loop applied to an
in-service-use R-23 or -24.
As I explained in an earlier post, the only rationale that I can
see for the AN/ARC-5 restoring loop connections that had been
eliminated between the RAV and ARA designs is to allow the possibility
of connecting the AN/ARR-1 to the R-24 through those loop terminals
and retain the ability to swap the R-24 back to the command antenna.
This would have eliminated the antenna switch relay and control box
for the R-1/ARR-1. I believe that the R-23 just came along for the
ride when it also had loop terminals restored. Perhaps someone thought
that YE/YG modulation frequencies might be added that were in the beacon
band rather than the broadcast band.
