Guys,

You all have been a wonderful source of information and have given me a 
wealth of ideas on fabricating the tuning knob for my project.  Thank 
you for taking the time to respond and share your expertise!

That's right.  The Surplus Perversion Manuals all ignored the existence 
of
controls, connectors, racks and cables.  Most were sold for scrap.
