Memory serving (and we all know how well *that* works), the AYD &
AN/ARN-1 only had a single range while the AN/APN-1 had two - 0-400
and 0-4000 ft. I think the earlier equipment only had the higher
range. However, I think the actual units may have been identical and
the only differences being in the indicator with the AN/APN-1 having a
switch to change range.
Oh, well ... back to avoiding orange crocodiles ... :-)
