Michael T. and I discussed this topic (dials) at length some months ago, though the emails were private. Likely we should have posted them on this forum?
In summary, W.E. and Colonial manufactured Receivers AND Transmitters had some plastic/bakelite dials by the end of the war. All of the units in question were BC-45x/SCR-274. I have examples...
I have a brass (or bronze) dial, as it is very heavy compared to the aluminum dial, from a 190-550 Khz. receiver. No idea WHICH series of recievers it came from. When I polished it, it was golden in color. I have not seen any other examples.
The nomenclature tags are known in COPPER. I have a W.E. BC-459 with a copper nomenclature tag. S/N 36491. (The tags are also made from aluminum, brass and plastic/bakelite.)
