Boonton Radio was another of the offshoots of RFL. Various individuals 
struck out on their own from RFL in the 1930s-40s-50s. Stuart Ballentine 
and other talented scientists and engineers.

    There were a succession of spinoffs and stock deals that make 
another side to the technical history. In some, the promoters got the 
best of the scientists. A very small version of what happened in Silicon 
Valley with computers  There was a "critical mass" in Boonton. People 
developing things in their garages, though of course nothing with the 
vast market of the dot coms.
