I've often experienced that younger electronic enthusiasts, who occasionally
buy some of my
electronics components and units, -- things I bought at flea markets and
don't really need any longer (if ever!) --
audio enthusiasats included, are quite fascinated when they see my veteran
military gear.
There also seems to be quite a few individuals who really get turned on when
they see vintage military equipment
-- even if they don't really understand its function. Some Army-Navy type
surplus stores that specialize in surplus
and camping clothing and gear sometimes have older mil radio gear for sale.
I've seen this in NYC and Copenhagen.
(I've even saw a jeep on display in front of a town hall, claiming to be
authentic, with a BC-221 rigged up to look like
a transceiver -- they were NOT interested in my pointing out what the unit
really was. It looked authentic and it looked
good--that was enough for them.)
Of course general interest in vintage mil gear is not the same as saying
that there is a large market, willing to pay reasonable prices,
but I think it leaves room for optimism.
Henry, Cph.
