[ARC5] Kludge - an honest definition

Group,

The first time I heard the word "kludge" was in 1950.  My high school radio instructor, who was ex-USN and held  W4LRO, said a kludge was a temporary work-around circuit not intended to be used in place of the final, refined circuit.  It had nothing to do with computer systems.  Usually we built kludges on a scrap chassis or a breadboard or whatever was at hand.  Many a surplus part found its way into several kludges over its lifetime, which may have been very short due to our limited experience or knowledge about ratings.
