Obviously, there is a very large set of WW II Army history volumes.
Generally pretty academic and nowhere as interesting as Samuel Eliot
Morison's Navy WW II histories, all 17 volumes of which I have.
Morison, however, has virtually no technical details. (Morison was a
great student of Columbus and the early explorers. I am just reading his
book on the southern explorers such as Magellan.)
There are other WWII histories that talk about technical stuff, such
as the development of radar. These get very political, as both US and UK
scientists want to claim credit. The US may have realized the
possibilities of bounced radio waves first but I think the UK invented
the antenna theory and the cavity magnetron. I have never seen a book on
the German radar, such as the Freya, which would be interesting to read.
