I had a big thrill tonite, I've been fighting a BC-454 for the last
couple of weeks off and on. I admit I butchered the wiring. I put a
octal socket in and my troubles started. Tonite after letting it sit
for a day or two I went back to it. I finally figured out the wiring,
got the filiments to light up, then got the B+ correct. The orginal
audio transformer is gone so put a small audio xmfr in and got it
wired to the jack on front. So now I have audio, the AF Gain controls
works, audio comes out of the headphones but no BFO. The jack and box
that use to be in the front end are long gone. You were suppose to
ground a wire that was pin 5 from the plug that use to be on the end,
but that plug is also long gone. There is a BFO coil called Z4 and
near as I can tell the diagrams show a red wire that went to pin 4 of
the missing front J3 plug I have what looks like a orange wire just
hanging around but grounding does notin. I'm lost can someone help me?
What I need to do to make the BFO work??

Why? Cuz I like to punish myself maybe? I want to get the BC-454
working so I can get the ARC5 tx going so I can start on redoin my
BC-348Q, so I can repackage a 811 amp and on and on and on.
