ALL -

---- To clean off a solder joint  ---- Not Mil SOP

I take solder wick and lightly warm with hot pencil iron in flux, wick 
soaking in flux. Then apply soaked wick to joint, take a deep breath and 
de-solder the joint.  The varnish crisps up and burns away and is sucked 
up in the wick.  Dust buster and brush any residue away if needed.
