Ben,
The distances in the USA are FAR greater than in the UK. The Tata is not
very different than a golf cart, but would be downright dangerous on an
interstate highway where lane speed is 75 MPH or more. Giant tandems do
that all day everywhere. It'd be fine for local errands.
The Bug could do highways, but with little to spare.
Most in the US don't think twice about going shopping (like to a mall) 50
miles away. Many in Massachusetts go to New Hampshire to avoid sales taxes
on major purchases.
