Unfortunately, none of these inflation calculators base their calculations
on any of the sorts of mostly high-end hardware we're talking about. If
they consider automobiles, they consider only low-end consumer grade stuff.
Between 1969 and 1996, the cost of mid to high end motor vehicles went up
about 10X (personal observation). The figure you'll get from the "official"
calculators is around 3 to 4X.
