Way back before it became illegal, immoral, and fattening I downloaded the Heathkit HW-100 manual from BAMA and have been using it to work on an HW-100.
I was determined to proceed very deliberately and do the resistance checks in the manual as if I had just built the kit before powering it up. I found some major discrepancies in resistance at a few points and eventually resorted to examining the schematic. It soon became clear that the manual is simply wrong for some of the resistances listed. For example, there is no way a point that has two 100k range resistors in parallel going to ground is going to have a resistance of 1.5 megaohms to ground. I finally decided that I could not trust the manual, fired up the rig, and found that it works, or at least more or less.
I have not gone through the HW-101 manual to see if those errors were corrected with the later set, but I conclude that you simply cannot trust the BAMA HW-100 manual on every point.
Good luck!
