Indeed!

Yes. What a bunch of foolishness. I much prefer to make some effort to
communicate.
Our "digital infrastructure" is actually pretty delicate, relying for its propagation
and support on man-made, and therefore unreliable, devices, most of which
require power from more man-made infrastructure, like dams, etc.
It is so artificial that in my humble opinion, it cannot possibly endure.

One of my Elmers, in fact my very most favorite one, Woody Davey W7CJB,
told me 60 years ago that the noise level had risen very significantly since his
early radio years (1930s). He thought it was primarily due to the huge
increase in the size and spread of the AC power system in our country.
I am sure he would be even more aware of all the noise from our modern
digital garbage.
He was chief of maintenance for the FAA's electronic equipment in Missoula,
Montana. His duties included ALL the FAA communications gear and airways
beacons in the state of Montana.
He was one very intelligent fellow, and a very good man in the bargain.
