[ARC5] BC-696-A Possibility?

Hi,

I recently picked up a BC-696-A in virtually NOS condition with no
apparent mods, except the antenna binding post has been replaced with an
SO-239.

It was very neatly done and the T/R relay even looks fine. The question
is, were any ever made with the SO-239's or are all the connectors a ham
"conversion". Putting a coax on that antenna push-post makes little
electrical sense.
