The C-182 for the AF could not be the same as the others,
because of the exclusion pin in the AF transmitter.
The C-182s I've seen would not fit.

I think the logical explanation for the 1938 and '39 orders 
of parts for the 1935 -AE- set is likely to be the same
as that for the late runs of ATA:  replacements.
There were a lot of SCR-183 installations by 1939 
and many of them stayed in those aircraft right 
through the war.  They were in State-side training and
auxilliary jobs, but that's just as valid service as any.
Somewhere out there is a Twilight Zone episode 
with a B-25 "crashed" in the "desert" (actually a
boneyard in California).  As the "ghost" pilot haunts
the "wreck," we see the bomber is outfitted with 
SCR-183 (or -283, more likely).
