UPS and FedEx use airplanes to get that last 2300 miles (give or
take), the same airplanes they lease to the USPS for Priority
packages. UPS & FedEx fly at night and USPS flies during the day.
Ironically, Priority can often get here faster than UPS/FedEx 2nd day
and at half the cost.

Parcel Post goes by sea and takes typically 3-6 weeks to get here,
dependent on traffic at the Port of Los Angeles and the local Bulk
Mail Center(s). It's not unusual to discover that the container
containing one's packages is sitting on Matson's dock either there or
here, but container shipping is a study in chaos theory anyway so
sometimes I'm amazed they get through at all. (I've watched them
unloading here and it is truly a wonder it works at all let alone as
well as it does.)

I don't mind waiting for something to arrive. I'm 64 years old,
retired/disabled and am not in a hurry for anything. If it takes
something a month and a wiggle to get here, who cares? It's not like
I've got a patient waiting or anything. :-)

Best regards,

Michael, WH7HG
