[ARC5] Shipping to Hawaii

Do UPS and FedEx transport by airplane or ship if it is sent "ground"? 
My guess is airplane. If that is the case, is it cheaper to ship by 
freight on a ship and wait maybe 3 or 4 more days?
 Curious.

UPS and FedEx Ground still works (though I'm amazed that their trucks
don't sink) however their rates for shipping to Hawaii lead one to
wonder if they might not have gotten the word about Hawaii's
statehood.
