As I am sure many of you know, Tom Aschenbrenner has spent hundreds of hours
restoring the electronic equipment on board the USS Cobia, perhaps the most
authentic remaining World War II submarine. He has the surface search radar
operating and licensed. As I recall, it is an SG. They believe that it is
the only World War II radar operating in its original configuration and the
oldest operating radar in the world. He cannot post to the list from the
museums web site so he has asked me to post this appeal for parts. Anyone
who can help can reply directly to the email below:

I'm at the boat and can't post on boat anchors. Could you pls put a note out
that if anyone has any 723A 723B Klystrons that I would like to buy them
for use in the COBIAs ST-1 radar? These are used for the L.O. I also
need 724Bs which are used for the TR and ATR switches.
You can have them respond to Tom at Aschen.com since I can get that mail.
Also, I wonder if posting to the ARC5 list might reach the right folks?
Thanks,
Tom A.
PS: you think its possible to get a cherry SCR-624 ? That is what is
supposed to be on
COBIA. We have all the cabling for it and the space where it goes
(currently used as
a shelf) but are missing the radio and remote control head.
Tom A.
