The dyno was probably one reason it was OK. I presume 
you have PLENTY of primary (12/28VDC) current to it.

I always thought the BC-191/375 would be fun to play with.  
It is so kinda crude.

I used one for a few days back in the early 1960s. There 
was one set up at the local sheriff's office. I was the commo 
man at that end during the search for a lost hunter.

Drift didn't seem to make a lot of difference on AM.

We used 3910 Khz. The ham on the other end used a 
GRC-9 with that cute little 2 cycle generator for power.

He was one of my Elmers. Good fellow.
