Popular back in the 50's as an alternative to the more expensive
PE-103. Conversion details in Aug. 1952 CQ and the CQ Mobile handbook
of the period which also details how to rewire the commutator for 6
volt operation. Under load puts out 610 and 325vdc with 12 volts in,
just about right for Elmac, Harvey-Wells, etc. mobile rigs of the
period.
Conversion involved removing the speed reducer gearbox and coding cam
hardware and trimming the length of the long endbell. Made for a neat
package.
The units still turn up on eBay with some regularity, the recent item
being a somewhat extreme conversion example.
