One end of the PE-101-(*) had the armature shaft extended beyond the 
bearing.  Onto this was mounted a coding disk.  Same with the Navy version, 
CWD-21AAX.  The dynamotors were part of the Mark IV IFF system, supposedly never 
used because the Mark IIIG wasn't broken by either the Japs or the Germans.
