[ARC5] A.R.C. Model B & Equipment

As many of you know, I'm trying to sort out the different variations
of the SCR-A*-183/-283 and the RU/GF sets as to what went with what.
I know a lot of the model differences were purely administrative but I
also know there were compatibility issues between them as well. With
that, I know there were several different circuits used for the
receivers and transmitters.

Sticking with the SCR-A*-183, there were the BC-AA-179/-180, the
BC-A*-199/-200 and the BC-A*-229/-230. What I don't know is what the
differences were, what coil sets went with which sets, and what the
incompatibilities were within the last pair that caused things like
the AF (AE?) version being incompatible with the rest and some groups
of models to be incompatible with others. The BC-A*-429/-430 pair has
its own issues on top of those in the 12 volt models which just
compounds the problems

The GF/RU is similar (ex: How did the GF-1 transmitter differ from
both the GF and the GF-2?) although there are fewer mysteries in it
due to Ships 242A. There also seems to be some question about the
very early GF/RUs which may relate to the variations in the very early
SCR-A*-183 sets. With all this there are also the 46051 & 46051A, the
46048 through 46048E, and several transmitter variants all of which I
don’t have listed. So far, I can’t find anything that indicates what
went with what, what the differences were and if there were any
compatibility issues.

What I'm trying to do is assemble a comprehensive set of tables to put
the proper pieces with the proper sets (by compatibility as well as by
model number), something that has never before been done to the best
of my knowledge. This is not an undertaking for the faint of heart
but if it were easy it wouldn't be half so much fun.

And, yes, I am certified insane by the VA.

Best regards,

Michael, WH7HG
