They were, IMHO, UNambiguously UNsuccessful.  Success in my view, as a former
military end-user, is defined at the *minimum* as a system that was actually used
by the military for other than evaluative or developmental purposes.

Thus, I believe the SCR-274-N VHF components (BC-942 receiver, BC-950 transmitter)
were unsuccessful, even though they far outclassed the A.R.C.'s VHF prototypes,
and even though, slightly modified, they became successful members of the AN/ARC-5
system as the R-28 and T-23.

The A.R.C. VHF gear would have been great, had it appeared five years earlier.  The
T-89 and T-90 did not spawn *any* direct descendants...they weren't useful, nor was a
useful and successful set ever developed directly from them.

They're great collector's items, though!
