That connection is on the AN/ARC-3A and B models, and the AN/ARC-36
and -49 models.  The manuals refer to it as a connection to the
"guard channel converter."  I have never seen any evidence that
such an animal was ever actually employed with the AN/ARC-3, -36,
or -49.  As an external unit, it would likely have required its
own antenna.
