There were late run ARA/ATA pieces made to fill replacement roles even
though the AN/ARC-5 was already in production. The idea, I believe,
was to install the later systems in new construction aircraft and
maintain the older systems in existing aircraft rather than replace
them. I have a transmitter (52232, I think - I'd have to pull it out
to check) that is definitely late production since it has front panel
details like those used in the AN/ARC-5 sets.
