Clare,
I could be wrong but I also am unaware (never heard of) any chemical
differences between the + and - brushes. I always assumed that they were marked that
way as a maintenance aid. So that the tech wouldn't have to worry about which
holder each brush came out of when disassembling the dynamotor for service.
Because it IS important to get used brushes back into the same hole they came
out of. Else you must repeat the seating procedure which wastes brush life.
