Exactly that tool I used, Robert.  I will take your recommendation 
regarding the edge treatment, as I have a couple of these that have seen 
some hard use (production line discards). The can material is thicker 
than I thought, but once you get it started I found it would roll back 
pretty nicely.

Again, same method.  I figured my usage didn't required the same level 
of mechanical sealing as the original design ;-)

I was planning to go with terminal strips but reworking the caps turned 
out to be easy enough, and the workmanship is so nice it's good to 
maintain it as much as possible.  I'll try the tubing cutter on the next 
ones I do.
