my favorite command set transmitter from yesteryear was an ab1 final as
noted, but I used a 250 ohm resistor in the cathode of the 1625s and then cathode
keyed the VFO by slaving a 2.5 MHh choke for the 1626 cathode to ground and
putting a ,01 cap between the cathode and the VFO coil tap (a trick I found
in one of the magazines or surplus conversion books of the time). While used
on CW only, the rig had a nice note and I worked all states on 80 meters on
one FD exercise with a well trimmed doublet hanging from a couple of really
tall redwood trees. Not a lot of power, but enough
NO TVI either!
