It tends to make one wonder what is the purpose of a list.
I would hope that the purpose would be to provide a benefit
to the members of that list.
If list rules, etiquette, and general attitude become sufficiently
burdensome or unpalatable to override perceived benefit,
the list will die.
The "jumping" of newcomers who may not be aware of the
unwritten rules of a list will soon discourage participation.
My opinion/advice is worth just what you have paid for it.
