I just realized that I made a mistake while typing the aircraft designation.
It should read A-36 and not A-26. Here is a link to the web page with the
updated want list for the Collings radio project:
http://www.twinbeech.com/collingsA-36project.htm
I have also fixed the link to the Yardney tuner PDF document on the radio
page at:
http://www.twinbeech.com/radio.htm
Sorry for any confusion,

I just updated the page about the Colling's North American A-26 Apache radio
project. Thanks Steve for all of your help and donations of equipment.
There are still a few things needed to complete the set. If you all have any
spare gear this is a worthy project well worth the donation.
I talked to Rob Collings about getting the radio room up and running in one
of the bombers and he thought that the B-24J would be the best one to use.
The radio and cockpit can be viewed by the people who tour through the
aircraft but they do not have access to it like they do in the B-17. I think
that this lends itself to radio preservation and longevity.
When I was in the B-24 last, I opened up the BC-375E and she still had what
looked like a complete set of new VT-4C tubes and it looked to be in good
shape. I would think that this would be a good radio to start with.
I will build a web page in the future to outline this project but here is
the short story:
I would like to find one or several people who might want to take these
radios (BC-348, BC-375 and we will need to put together another SCR-274N
set) and restore them to operational status. I would like to completely wire
the sets up in the B-24J and put them back on the air. I envision getting
some WWII radio operators, as well as the folks who volunteered for this
project, to make broadcasts while flying en route from stop to stop as these
aircraft tour around the country.
I have been able to get WWII bombardiers to drop bombs with the Norden bomb
sight and WWII gunners to shoot the 50 cal once more so I think it is time
to get the old radio operators back behind their keys as well. I think it
would be great for the WWII folks as well as a basis for an awesome
documentary for the public to watch.
Needless to say there will be a lot of work required but I think this a very
doable project. Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
