On the last three vibrators I've revived, the contact points themselves,
which are sort of "press fit" and then center-punched onto the
reed-like mountings on which they fit, have developed oxidation
between the round contact point and the metal reed on which it
is mounted. I've used a big battery to sort-of "spot weld" around the
edges of the contact point to the reed. Seems to get current flowing
long enough to break up the oxide between the contact point and
the reed.
