I'm not sure which came first, but there was an accessory unit, the MN-31,
that made an MN-26 from a DF into an ADF. The MN-31 had a little rotary
inverter and a pair of 2050 (?) thyratrons. There was also a mod to the MN-26
indicated by a changed letter suffix, but I don't know if it was mandatory. I
ran a vanilla MN-26-C with the MN-31 and it worked just fine.
If anyone has a nice, clean MN-31 (preferably with Bendix beige paint rather
than RCAF blue) please email me off list.
Thanks,
-John
