Sorry- Been away for a couple of days.

Yes; The 8th Air Force in the U.K. modified many BC-455
receivers to tune 28-40something MC for use in the 
Lorenz blind landing system (due to heavy fogs in 
southern England).
There was even lobbying to have the set contracted
by W.E., but better things came along and upstaged Lorenz.
A Lorenz-modified BC-455 is one of the "Holy of Holies"
of Command Set collecting; I know of one in California
and one in Canada.  I wouldn't sell one of my daughters
for one, but it's a near thing ;-).
