Hi All,
Anyone have any documentation or anecdotle info regarding this
(subject) set?I have a book with a picture of the radio op position in
a PT Boat and there is an AN/ARC-4 up in an out-of- the- way location
from the TCS set.I've heard that the ARC-4 was installed in submarines
too.All so that vessels could communicate with air support/cover/rescue
and what-all missions in the PTO(Pacific Theater of Operations). My
maternal grandfather's brother,my great uncle, was a PT Boat Commander
( I think Lt.) toward the end of the war.I never had the opportunity(or
the interest, back then) to interview him regarding his experiences. All
I know is that his Boat was burned up in the Great PT Boat Massacer
after the war was over.( to strike assets from the inventory for cost
accounting purposses). Our family has a great 3 foot model of his Boat
hand made by one of his crewmen.(I think this was from a kit so there
is no telling if the detail is accurate or correct).
My interest is to try and recreate the radio system(s) as used on a PT
Boat.I have the TCS set and the ARC-4.I just have no "proof" that these
sets were used together in any vessle. And where can I get a 40 ft Monel
steel antenna?I've contacted some members of PT fraternities and one
fellow told me how he permanatly bent his antenna by going under a
bridge at high tide (and high speed!) out of Bayone NJ for sea tirals.
 Thanks for reading,
                            Jay
