There are several of these interesting "type-XX" sets.
For instance: The "gray" single VHF receiver (+ or - a nav rcvr)
and single VHF transmitter set commonly used in Korea helos 
was called a "type-17," not "type-12," which covered a larger set
of equipment and multiple install options.
